Northeastern University Data Science Co-Op
What you'll be doing...
This Northeastern University Co-Op position, which is part of the
Verizon Campus Program, will give you a chance to channel your
drive and enthusiasm as part of a 6-month rotation from January 8,
2024 to June 28, 2024 working a full-time schedule. You'll be front
and center, hands-on and contributing your creative energy to
high-impact projects from the moment you arrive.

As a Co-Op with the Data Science team, some of the projects you may
work on could enhance your skills in one or more of the following
areas:
---5G Technology.
---Technology enabling AR/VR and Computer Vision.
---Network Features: NFV/SDN, storage area network, VPNs.
---Compiling usable data from a variety of structured and
unstructured datasets and identifying significant correlations
across different data elements.
---Develop new skills using various statistical tests to better
understand relationships among the data and explore domain-specific
knowledge to create a story based on data.
---You'll create useful models from the data to answer specific
network-related questions, whether you're finding the best equation
to fit to a curve, or using machine learning. algorithms to make
reasonable predictions. You'll also be proficient in using charts
and diagrams to tell your data's story.
---Developing your professional network within Verizon.
You must be currently enrolled in a qualifying bachelor's degree
program at Northeastern University and be in good academic standing
to be considered.
This Co-Op position will be based out of one of the following
locations:
---180 Washington Valley Rd, Bedminster, NJ 07921
---500 W Dove Rd, Southlake, TX 76092
In this hybrid co-op, you'll have a defined work location that
includes work from home and assigned office days set by your
manager.If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be
available.

You're a motivated self-starter. Never satisfied with the status
quo, you're always trying to perform at your personal best. You

every day. You are flexible, dependable, and work well in varying
environments. Learning quickly is personally rewarding and inspires
you to take smart risks.
You'll need to have:
---Ability to participate in our 6-month co-op that takes place
from January 8, 2024-June 28, 2024 working a full-time
schedule.
---Current enrollment in a Northeastern University Bachelor's
degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Data
Analytics, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or related major
with an expected completion date between December 2024 and May
2025.
---Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need
for future sponsorship.
---Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon
office.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
---Previous Internship or Co-Op experience.
---Completed coursework in computer programming (Python/R), linear
algebra, physics, probability/ statistics, and/or machine
learning/data management/ data analysis/ data structures.
---Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management and
attention to detail.
---Demonstrated strong analytical, communication, leadership and
presentation skills.
---Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving,
team environment.
